Students will study technological and social change, looking at the multicultural nature of Hispanic society. They will study highlights of Hispanic artistic culture, including a focus on Spanish regional identity and the cultural heritage of past civilisations. They will learn about aspects of the diverse political landscape of the Hispanic world. Students will explore the influence of the past on present-day Hispanic communities.
Throughout their studies, they learn the language in the context of Hispanic countries and issues and influences which have shaped them. Students will study texts and film and will have the opportunity to carry out independent research.
Students will identify a subject or a key question which is of interest to them and which relates to a country or countries where Spanish is spoken. They will select relevant information in Spanish from a range of sources including the internet thus developing their research skills. Students will demonstrate their ability to initiate and conduct individual research by analysing and summarising their findings, in order to present and discuss them in the speaking assessment.

Sixth Form entry requirements and grade 6 or higher at Spanish GCSE.
Many students go on to study Spanish at university, either literature based degrees or translating and interpreting. Many universities offer combined language courses with other subjects, such as history or business; and most courses require you to spend a year studying or working abroad. Careers with Spanish are varied and this A Level provides a strong foundation for success in a globalised, multicultural world.
