  • Sports Day – Thursday 4 July

In celebration of our diverse school community we will be holding a culture day on Friday 19 July. The day will include dressing in clothing that represents your child’s cultural identity. This could include nationality, music, arts and sports interests. We will be asking pupils to make a voluntary contribution of £1 to a charity to be decided by the students. Students will be voting on this in tutor time soon. Payment will be available on Parentpay nearer the time.

The day will include a collapsed lunch and students will be off timetable from 12:05-2:45pm. Your child will have the opportunity to buy an ice cream and have their face painted for a small donation. We will also be offering Mehndi patterns. The Mehndi patterns are made with henna which some people may have an allergy to and they can take up to two weeks to fade. Therefore, if your child would like to have a Mehndi pattern painted on their hand, a consent form must be shown to the henna stall on the day. The henna will only be applied with your consent. Paper copies of the consent form will be available from tutors closer to the time.

Culture day is one of our most celebrated days and our school community really looks forward to it.

Personal Development Team

We are kindly asking for parents and carers to work with us, to make drop-off and pick-up times safer for our community. Please note:

  • Robin Hood Gymnastics Club have received a number of complaints from members and neighbours regarding the misuse of parking spaces, during NFS drop-off and pick-up times by parents and carers.
  • Many parent/carer vehicles are being parked very awkwardly and unsafely, obstructing traffic flow.
  • Some parents are exiting the one-way system incorrectly, posing risks to pedestrians (particularly the young children who walk to our club with their parents)

Please can all relevant parents and carers:

  • Use Haydn Road parking spaces near the front our school, or consider parking further down Haydn Road.
  • Do not use Robin Hood Gymnastics Club car park, which is dedicated for its business operations only.

As ever, we are sincerely grateful for your help with this important health and safety issue.

Nottingham Free School

We have an exciting programme of careers events and visiting speakers during the last week of half term.

Monday 22nd July  -  Apprenticeships workshop, Post- 16 planning, Finance, Interview preparation

Tuesday 23rd July - Each student will have a one to one interview with a local employer.  They will talk about their work experience, plans for the future, skills.

Wednesday 24th July - all year 10 will visit the University of Nottingham for a day of careers talks and a tour of the campus.

Early in year 11, we will have an additional event for the students with visiting speakers and representatives from some local colleges.  There will also be a parent meeting about how to help guide your teen through their steps as a post-16.

We are having an increasing number of students being late for school this half term. All students have been reminded that our first bell rings at 8:28am. This allows for students to be ready in their classroom by 8:30am. Students are classed as late once the first bell has rung at 8:28am and are issued with a detention that same day.  Students who are late are missing vital information that sets them up for the day.  Please contact your child's tutor if you need support in ensuring that your child attends school on time.

Attendance Team

Students have been working really hard on this year's school musical, School of Rock. Tickets will be made available after the half term break from student reception.

Tickets will be

  • £4 for adults
  • £3 for children
  • £2 for NFS pupils.

The show will take place on Tuesday 16th July and Wednesday 17th July at 6pm-8pm. We hope to see you there.
