Weekly Parent BulletinWEEK OF 30 SEPTEMBER (WEEK A)

~ 30th September 2024 ~

Hello,

Thank you so much for supporting with the early finish on Tuesday 24 September. This allowed us to have a very successful Year 6 Open Evening.

Over 50 student leaders and volunteers helped out during this evening, and they were a true credit to our school community. One parent emailed in to say, whilst two particular student guides were exceptionally helpful, "all our students seemed supportive and polite and so they were not isolated cases of excellence!" We could not ask for better feedback.

Please carefully read the notices below for the week commencing Mon 30 September.

We hope you have a peaceful weekend.

Very best wishes,

Joel Tomasevic - Senior Leader for Communications and Parent Involvement

Online Safety Support

Please click on the link below that will take you to Internet Matters.  If you would like more control on what your child is using then you can use parental controls to manage screen time, block inappropriate content, prevent accidental spending and keep strangers away. Research shows they improve digital wellbeing when used alongside regular conversations about online activities.

Ethos of Excellence

  • We continue to be really pleased with how the students have returned. So many are being their best versions and the year 7s seem to have settled really well.
  • Please check your child's pencil case this weekend to see if they need any stationery replacing.
  • The Year 7s have the opportunity to take part in a Guinness World Record Attempt for the ‘Largest Poetry Lesson (Multiple Venue) on Thursday 3 October.

What evidence is required by the Guiness World Records?

  • We have to provide a 30 second video of the students being registered as they come into the hall and a 30 second video of the lesson. This will be of the back of the students’ heads and will be first names only.

What happens to the evidence?

  • The evidence is only accessible by Laura Much, an independent expert, two independent witnesses and the relevant (small number of people) at Guinness World Records. It will be stored securely and will not be published anywhere.
  • If you do not want your child to take part, please email EFurlong@nottinghamfreeschool.co.uk.
  • Please support students with logging in to Satchel One and Sparx by checking they are clicking sign in with Office 365
  • Most of the login issues are because they're not selecting this option before they try to log in.

Thank you,
