Nottingham Free School Does Cross Country!

Our 1st Entry in to Notts Schools Cross Country Competition at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield (Physical Education - 04/10/2016)

On Saturday 1st October, 16 students braved the Mansfield cold to represent our school in the 1st of 3 Nottinghamshire Schools Cross Country Fixtures.

The Y7 boys fronted a strong team, which included Archie Brown, Ben Stayne, Kyle McLeod and a late but strong draft of Ethan Wyeld. The Y8/9 girls managed a full team of 8, which consisted of Keira Winter, Jasmin Samra, Izzy Asher, Liv Cushion (Y8), Molly Doran, Sophie Noseley, Shannon Birkett and Sophie Wyeld (Y9). Finally, the Y8 boys were made-up of Finlay Wilson, Harley Simpson, Harvey Neal and Alex Hale.

All the students looked well turned-out in their pristine school PE kits and all battled through the gruelling 3k (Y7 boys / Y8/9 girls) and 4k (Y8/9 boys) courses. Considering that no student had been given in-school training for this event and most had not run anywhere near these distances previously, there were some great and some outstanding finishes. Special mention has to go to Finlay 'Speedy Gonzales' Wilson and Molly 'Usain Bolt' Doran for their unbelievable performances!

Thanks to all of the parents/carers for supporting this event by transporting students as well as supporting them throughout the race. A special thanks to Mr Neal for being team photographer too.
